Its interesting how the mundane and ordinary can seem incredible when in a different context. My first weekend in NYC wasn’t filled with more near-death experiences or any insane events. Yet, it was still awesome – unlike any weekend in Oregon. Sure, the setting is still new and I’m on the wrong coast, so its to be expected that I would have an awesome time exploring my surroundings. Nonetheless, here is the short, sweet, but obligatory update for the folks back home:
- I’ve walked more this weekend than I have in a long time. All afternoon-to-night on Friday, and all day Saturday too.
- I walked across the Williamsburg bridge.
- I sipped home-grown brew at the Brooklyn Brewery.
- I nearly got hit by over 1,000 skateboarders in the middle of ‘Go Skateboarding Day‘
- I ate Chipotle only once.
- I saw Yael Naim perform live at Summerstage in Central Park. (you may recognize her from the Apple ads)
- I went to P.S.1 (an extension of MoMA) for their Summer Opening Celebration and witnessed some pretty incredible exhibits.
- I saw my first firefly since I was a small kid visiting relatives in Pennsylvania maybe 8+ years ago.
The best part was that I was able to experience all these things with friends from work or from home!
